I woke up in the middle of the night in a very cold sweat, my hair was plastered to my back and my whole body was soaked. Flashes of a terrifying dream ran through my head, like memories faded with the passage of time. I shook it off as a simple nightmare and got up to go to the kitchen to get something to drink. My feet hit the ground, and the floor creaked as usual. Though for some reason, I had a foreboding feeling, as though the air itself was flat and lifeless. Time seemed to be moving very slowly. I took all of my steps very deliberately, getting chills down my spine as the carpet touched my feet. I made it to the door, turned the knob, and heard the familiar click of the knob lock popping out. I slowly opened the door, and even it refused to creak in the dark of night. Slowly and very deliberately I poked my head out. I saw nothing at first except my hair blocking part of my vision. Slowly I stepped out of my room and the air instantly seemed to get heavier and thicker. It felt like it was smothering me, but I continued on my journey with nothing on my mind but relieving this dry thirst in my throat. I made my way around the banister and down the stairs to the first landing. I don't know why I did it, but I looked up at the banister above me and saw the shadows move and fade slightly. Chills went down my spine and I gritted my teeth, wanting to run toward my room, slam the door, lock it, and hide under the covers. But I fought every instinct that told me to do this. I averted my eyes from the shadows that had now stopped moving and continued my descent, to the next landing. This time, I looked back up the stairs, and the shadows had gotten taller, almost like they were forming a figure. Chills ran down my spine again, but I refused to acknowledge it and attributed it to my wild imagination, light playing tricks, my hair, and shadows. I averted my eyes once more and continued my descent onto the final landing. Once there, I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves, and I looked back at the stairs I had just descended, on the first landing stood a figure made purely out of shadows save for it's milky white face seemingly expressionless. I gasped and bolted down the last of the stairs as fast as I could, tripping over every last indention in the floor and stray rug. I ran to the cupboard and grabbed a glass to get some water from the fridge, turning every single light on along the way that I could reach. The last light switch I had to hit, was the one in the dining room. I refused to go over there and decided the lights I had on already were enough. I slowly pushed my glass to the lever on the fridge and groaned as the water took it's own sweet time getting into my glass. I got too curious for my own good and looked to my right toward the unlit dining room and at first saw nothing, until I looked closer toward to farthest corner. There he was again, this time he seemed taller, longer, more ominous. His fingers were outstretched toward me, as if wanting to embrace me in it's sickly shadow arms. The fingers extended toward me inch by inch, closing the gap as I stood there horror-struck. I was forced out of my terror as water overflowed out of my glass and onto my hand. I looked at my glass and cursed to myself and immediately realized that I had taken my eyes off of the creature. I looked back toward where I saw him last and saw nothing. Absolutely nothing. I bit my lip and blood started to flow from it down my chin. I didn't care. I was too terrified to care. I sat in the kitchen sipping my water, trying to calm my nerves for a full hour. By the time I was ready and calm, it was three in the morning. I cursed once more and mumbled 'Fuck... The witching hour...' I looked around at everything, not wanting anything to escape my gaze. I saw nothing of the entity, so I got up, turned off the lights, and started out of the kitchen toward my room. I turned the corner toward the stairs, and there he was. He was staring down at me, his face pure white and blank. No features, no eyes, nose, mouth, or color. His long fingers slowly snaked their way around me and he embraced me toward him. I remember nothing after that.

Gave me shivers >.<;
Really creeptastic. You should write horror more often; I think it'd do you good.
